ANTIOXIDANTS
REDUCE RISK AND SYMPTOMS OF DEMENTIA AND ALZHEIMER'S.
Start your prevention and treatment program with selected
antioxidants. Several are described below and we have a full
description of the most effective and clinically proven at THE
MOST POWERFUL ANTIOXIDANTS KNOWN TO SCIENCE:
WHAT ARE ANTIOXIDANTS
You've heard all the talk about free radicals, but do you
understand what they do? If not, read our RECENT
MAJOR CLINICAL STUDIES ON ANTIOXIDANTS. Then press your BACK
button to return and choose the ANTIOXIDANTs for your life
extension program. It is vital to your health to determine if your
antioxidant defenses are adequate to protect you from premature
aging and cellular degeneration.
Anti-Oxidants also protect from high Cholesterol and
Triglyceride Levels.
Antioxidants also reduce risk of memory loss and dementia in
older adults.
Phosphatidyserine
(called P.S.), 1 capsule, 200 mg, 2X daily. Phosphatidyserine
(PS) functions like a mail or document delivery service. It
delivers nutrients and molecular messages to cell membranes. This
helps cells to work at their peak ability. Clinical trials have
shown that PS is dramatic in its ability to do this, and 200 mg of
PS taken two times a day may improve memory and recall in
early-stage Alzheimer's disease patients.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) Take 1000 mg daily. In clinical trials, acetyl-l-carnitine
(ALC) improves cognition in Alzheimer's patients. One study in
particular demonstrates that ALC when combined with early
diagnosis (by age 61), dramatically slows the progress of the
disease. ALC is a supplement with many positive potential
applications in Alzheimer's treatment. To start with, it's an
antioxidant, and as an antioxidants it prevents the destruction of
cells by free radicals. Many of the preventive nutrients available
to patients at risk for Alzheimer's are, and antioxidants may be
able to stop brain cells of patients who already have the disease
form becoming damaged any further.
ALC also helps with acetylcholine production and cell membrane
function. But its most therapeutic may be that felt in the
mitochondria, which are the energy powerhouses in brain cells.
Some researchers blame Alzheimer's disease on fatigued brain
cells. Because it helps the mitochondria produce and use energy,
ALC may ultimately make tired brain cells more energetic and give
the brain what it needs to be able to defend its cells from
degeneration. Most recently, the famed scientist Dr. Bruce Ames
and his colleagues at the University of California discovered that
ALC combined with a second antioxidant Alpha Lipoic Acid gave new
life to old brain cells. The November issue of Reader's Digest
hailed this discovery as "The Pill That May End Aging."
Hyperbole aside, this is a supplement that all who have or as risk
for Alzheimer's Disease must take on a daily basis.
Vitamin B
Complex, with B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6 B12, and Folic Acid. A
recent study conducted in Sweden found an amazing correlation
between low levels of Vitamin B12 and folic acid and Alzheimer's
Disease. Click here for a summary of this study showing Low
B12: Risk factor for Alzheimer's Disease.
Natural
Progesterone Cream -- 30 mg/daily in a topical cream (1/2
teaspoon). Natural Progesterone for women is shown to be
protective against the development of Alzheimer's. There is a 3
times greater risk for Alzheimer's in those without with low
levels of natural progesterone.
Pregnenolone,
100 mg a day, 2 tablets daily. This is considered to be one of the
most important supplements you can take to both prevent and slow
the progression of dementia, memory loss and Alzheimer's Disease.
Melatonin,
and DHEA, levels decrease as we age. Maintaining youthful levels
of these hormones is instrumental in warding off Alzheimer's and
Senility. Read about the correlation between low melatonin levels
and senility at Melatonin
Deficit Linked to Early Senility and Alzheimer's Disease.
GINKGO BILOBA 180 mg of ginkgo
biloba extract daily is recommended. Recent research shows that
Gingko is as effective as expensive prescription medicines in
treating Alzheimer's.
Co-Enzyme Q10 100 mg - Known
for the treatment of congestive heart failure COQ10 also plays a
key role in preventing senility and Alzheimer's. To be effective
one must take a total of 200-400 mg daily in divided doses with
meals.
Research released in November, 2003, clearly shows that those
who consume food or supplements rich in Omega-3 fatty acids have a
40-50% reduced risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
New research shows curcumin, an extract of the tumeric roots
from which curry Indian curry is derived, may explain why the
rates of Alzheimer's disease among India's elderly are 90% lower
than in the US and Canada. Curcumin has many health benefits and
you can read this recent research at
Glutamine (L-glutamine), 3000 mg
daily. Glutamine stimulates the body to produce both HGH (human
growth hormone) and glutathione. High level of HGH and glutathione
appear to prevent or slow senility and Alzheimer's Disease.
Natural Anti-Inflammatories Prevent Alzheimer's Disease. Dutch
researchers made this announcement in 2002. .
Finally, and certainly not least, is the mounting evidence that
high blood pressure and high cholesterol are large risk factors
for senility and Alzheimer's Disease.
