Before we pathologize millions of people as "hypercholesterolemic”, society ought seriously to rethink how we go about the important task of primary prevention of heart disease. Diet and exercise seem likely to be cheaper, safer and more effective." Professor Arthur Schafer, Director, Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics University of Manitoba Winnipeg, Canada, commenting on the recent decision to allow OTC simvastatin in the UK.
