Why Use Vaginal Gel?
Next to hot flashes, vaginal
discomfort is the second most common side effect of menopause. As
hormone (estrogen and progesterone) levels decline, the vaginal walls
shrink and become thinner, drier, and less elastic. This can cause
sexual intercourse to be
painful. Blood flow is also reduced, so the sense of touch is
altered. All of these symptoms can easily affect your sexual
desire.
What causes Vaginal
Dryness?
Even though the
problem is prevalent during menopause, may women also experience it
during other periods of their lives. Other common causes of
vaginal dryness or discomfort are:
-
Birth control
pills
-
Breast feeding
-
Chemotherapy or
radiation
-
Emotional Stress
-
Hysterectomy
or
other surgery
-
Medications
like antihistamines
-
Strenous exercise

Important Information about
Vaginal Dryness, Condoms, Diaphragms, Antihistimines
and Protroleum Jelly
Why is
Vaginal Gel Preferred?
Vaginal dryness
can be easily relieved with the regular use of At Last
Naturals Vaginal Gel. Born Again is a
water-based, water-soluble, light moisturizing gel
that feels like your body's own natural lubricant.
It is recommended that you avoid the use of products
with petroleum jelly, mineral oil, and other oils.
These materials can stick to the vaginal walls
providing a place for bacteria and other
microorganisms to grow. Also, never use
petroleum-based lubricants with condoms or diaphragms.
The will cause the latex to lose strength and to tear
or disintegrate.
It is very
important that a vaginal moisturizer have a slightly
acidic pH. Normal vaginal secretions are acidic
which naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria,
yeast, and other microorganisms. At Last
Naturals Vaginal Gel is moisturizing, and has a pH of
less than 5 which closely matches your body's natural
pH. This creates an acidic environment which
keeps bacteria at bay. Since the vaginal area is so
sensitive, it is also recommended that you avoid
products with colors, fragrances, or essentials oils.
What can you
do?
According to gynecologist Susan Lark, M.D
and author of The Menopause Self Help Book, there are
four things you can do to combat vaginal dryness.
First, try vaginal lubricants or moisturizers.
These non-prescription products plump up the vaginal
lining cells with moisture and actually return
shrunken vaginal lining tissue back to normal.
Second, avoid antihistimines.
These drugs dry out mucus membranes in your vagina as
well as your nose and throat!
Third, engage in regular sex. "Regular
orgasm and tender, sensitive lovemaking can help to
relax the pelvic muscles, improve blood flow and keep
natural moisture in vaginal tissues."
Finally, practice Kegel exercises. They will
improve muscle tone and blood circulation in the
pelvic area.
At Last Naturals Vaginal Moisturizing
Gel is preferred because it provides soothing relief
for vaginal dryness and helps restore a woman's
natural lubrication. It contains Vitamin E. and Wild
Yam Extract. Vitamin E is a wonderful
nutrient for the reproductive system and a specific
remedy for vaginal dryness. Wild Yam Extract comes
from the Mexican wild yam. The wild yam is an
excellent source of diosgenin, a precursor to
progesterone. During menopause, decreasing
levels of estrogen and progesterone cause the thinning
of the vaginal walls and vaginal dryness.

A LITTLE HISTORY LESSON ABOUT MEXICAN YAM~
Mexican yam has long had a reputation as a woman's
herb. During the eighteenth and nineteenth
centuries, wild yam was used to treat menstrual
pain and conditions related to childbirth.
Pregnant women used wild yam to combat nausea,
ease aching muscles, and prevent miscarriages.
Wild yam was also
used as a colic remedy. Furthermore, the plant's
anti-inflammatory properties were thought to be
effective in the treatment of rheumatoid
arthritis.
Most of those uses
were forgotten after Japanese researchers in 1936
discovered that wild yam contained diosgenin, a
chemical that scientist Russell Marker used in the
1940s to create synthetic progesterone and the
hormone DHEA.
